| Well, this is a good book. Really good pictures, advices, design and plenty of inspiration and ideas for balconies, roofs, raised beds, window boxes ans such.
I would certainly buy it. However, I did not give it five stars, since it lacks some chapter in following species-to-species treatment in containers. But do not get wrong with it, this book has a last appendix with tables and tables refering to conditions for growing all vegetables in containers, size of container, treatments, etc, but not the fully detailed history an details which I think the author could write. I would give it 4 to 4.5 stars. Buy it in combination with the "Bountiful container" And also to the five-stars "21st century homesteading" |

| what a great little book, when i first got it i was dissapointed by its small size, but as with many nuts - there is a whole lot of protein and other good things in a small package!! the book is a great introduction to permaculture, perfect for the beginner who wants to know about farms, gardens, and city living and not just to specialise in one area. It has great examples and is very well written and has a great biblio at the end to give lots of info sources. to sum up, its a great mulch from which to grow ideas! |

| and an excellent source of information, even if you are not particularly interested in planting a full scale forest garden. The sections on trees, bushes and perennial vegetables in particular in a mine of practical advice on how to grow these, and would be of interetest to anyone comtemplating growing anything from rohan or whitebeam to Good king henry, through a variety of fruit bushes.
Buy it for your nearest and dearest gardener at the first occasion :) |

| This is a really inspiring book and a great starting point for those who want to care about the earth, more. This huge resource can be digested chapter by chapter or can be utilised when you want some specific recommendations (e.g. on soil type, shade loving perennials or shape of a pond). Patrick goes into practical details yet still maintains the integrity of caring for the whole (Earth) Straight forward diagrams and clear mindmaps illustrate significant themes and ideas. | Having become intruiged by tipis since encountering them at the Big green gatherings I have finally bought my first canvas tipi.As far as I can see there are two books that are reasonably available:Patrick's book and the Reginald and Galdys Laubin book. They are both inspiring to a point but there is so much more that could be written/shown/photographed which might really whet the prospective tipi user's appetite. Patrick's book is pretty good but it would really benefit from more pictures/photos/advice.These structures are really magical and pictorially the magic doesn't really come through. |

| Having become intruiged by tipis since encountering them at the Big green gatherings I have finally bought my first canvas tipi.As far as I can see there are two books that are reasonably available:Patrick's book and the Reginald and Galdys Laubin book. They are both inspiring to a point but there is so much more that could be written/shown/photographed which might really whet the prospective tipi user's appetite. Patrick's book is pretty good but it would really benefit from more pictures/photos/advice.These structures are really magical and pictorially the magic doesn't really come through. |
