| I am not a gardener, I have never watched gardeners world and have only a small back yard. i somehow came across this book while browsing amazon and thought it would be a nice stocking filler for my husband. anyhow, it is so easy to follow and inspiring that we now have green beans, leeks, onions and shallots growing in our little garden. The difference in taste from supermarket veg is unbelievable. This is a great book that takes you from buying seeds to taking vegetables out of the ground, if i can do it, anyone can! Next season we are moving on to courgettes, potatoes, broccoli........ |

| Call me a philistine, but I cannot understand why this monumental and self-indulgent book, first published in 1962, is said to be one the great classics of the 20th century.
It charts the life of Anna Wulf, a writer. Although every page is very well written and the many characters are well individualized, I have found this quite a difficult read. The chapters in this massive tome are enormously long, with few natural breaks: at times there are whole pages between paragraphs. And the structure of the book is, I think, excessively complex. | I selected this book from the reviews on Amazon so was really looking forward to it. I found it took a long time to get into it, then suddenly I was hooked. I have never really read anything so near to science fiction and it really made me think about the future and the past and if we can alter it and what would we do if we had our time again or the chance to see those who have already departed. The story was very deep with 2 characters; Clare and Henry as the main focus. Some parts I had to really concentrate on and recheck the dates to understand what was happening. Very clever story telling and I became so involved in the story I did not want it to end. |

| I bought this book on the strength of the great reviews it has had but it is terrible. It only has three pages with the pictures of mum, dad and baby that you see on the front cover. That is it! The pictures have black/white/yellow decorations around them that my daughter looked at briefly but an absolute waste of money! |

| Great one for the spiritual sceptics , stick with it there is something for everyone in here . Personally reccomended to a few friends something in here for everyone but if your reading it you probably dont need it , if your in doubt go check out the "is that so" chapter at the book store |

| This book started off really well, the characters were believable and the plot was interesting enough to get me hooked. When the plans for revenge were unfolded between the two women, I couldn't put the book down. I wanted to see what they were going to do to him and with each new drama, I was drawn further and further in as James' life unfolds dramatically around him with seemingly no idea who's behind it all. But then something odd happens, it's almost as if the author had a change of heart half way through because the story goes from this, to a less dramatic story of a woman getting over the break up of her marriage and moving on to a new relationship. The one "big event" that was planned early on in the book (that I was really looking foward to reading) doesn't even go ahead. ... Read More |
