| This is the standard text for any botanist whether amateur or professional. I reach for it every day and every day I learn something new. I would recommend that you also buy Stace's Field Flora of the British Isles which is a condensed form (subspecies?) of this book so is much smaller and easier to carry in the field. But don't buy just the Field Flora as the text and hence the information contained therein is also condensed. A word of warning: The New Flora is a technical book written by an acomplished professional taxonomist/botanist for professionals but don't let this deter any new comers to botany it is still good to have along with the more basic guides such as the Collins Guide to the Wildflowers of Britain and Ireland by Fitter et ... | I was brought this book as a gift, and i was so pleased once i had opened it.
It is the perfect 'coffee table' book and everyone who visits picks it up and looks at it. its facinating to see what happens behind closed doors in such a wonderful place, and i love love love the giant waterlilly leaves. Do not buy this book if you are hoping to read all about Kew, it is not full of text, just photographs with annotation. I also have A Year in the life of Richmond, which is worth having too. |

| Fantastic book. Great colour photos, yes some of the gardens you may have seen before but a really diverse mixture of containers to inspire you which come with 'recipes' and cross referenced to the plant info at the back of the book. Also details of how to propagate, winter protection, pests and diseases and just about all you need to know. Easy to follow format, highly recomended. |

| As a fan of Monty Don's writing and gardening I bought this, expecting that his style had probably been watered down (no pun intended!) for Gardeners World viewers. But not a bit of it. Monty happily gives us the low down on junk fruit and other evils of the twenty-first century. Entertaining and informative it is based around the Berryfield plot, so the chapters include the £20 border, the greenhouse, the kitchen garden, the pond, the lawn, the fruit garden and so on. Well worth the money. |

| Rating: 4+ - Beautifully illustrated I give the book Gardens of Italy by Ann Laras 4+ rating. Sixty gardens is of course a personal selection of gardens by the author. ButI miss a few of the historic and design-wise interesting places. Le Marche is not represented and Villa Barbarigo is also missing, along with some smaller, but exquisite gardens scattered over the peninsula. That said, the photos are great and most of the more famous places are well illustrated. I cannot see who of which has photographed - the author or Ake E:son Lindman. The text is not deep-probing and exploring academic, but describing the place with impressions, interviews with experts, owners and facts.
