| As a novice (and reluctant) gardner, I have found my niche with growing my own produce. This book provides lots of information about the different varieties of fruit, vegetables and herbs. There is also a guide to the different pests and diseases, what to look for and how to prevent/cure the problem. I would recommend this to any person looking to create their own kitchen garden. |

| this excellent book gives infomation on how to save pure seed from just about any plant you could wish to grow (and probubly some you will never have heard of), published by the american seed saving sosciety, it is well written and laid out, possibly a little too abvaced for the absolute beginner but a good investemt nont the less.
written using some american veriety names eg. frnch beans called common beans, and with seasonal sowing information that is probubly relevent to america only. but none the less very well rounded and compiled. highly recommended |

| A Really Useful Book. I grow a lot of fruit and veg (and have done for many years), yet still found this an inspiring read - so much so that, as soon as I'd finished the chapter on grapes, I ordered three vines for growing in pots!
It provides easy to understand advice on growing quality organic crops that can't be beaten for flavour and freshness. I'd recommend this book for any grower or gourmet, especially if your heart and mind tells you that you could easily reduce your food miles and your taste buds tell you that you can eat better whilst your at it! |

The text is high quality print, and mine is covered with plastic and accompanies me often in the vineyards. It's focus is on the California industry but it is also a good guide for the northeastern USA and rest of the world. |
