| My main source of information - lots of background and explanation but the most useful condensed section at the back - practical and concise info on planting, management, harvest and storing by vegetable type. |

| Due to a plumbing fault in the house, my family have been composting in the back garden on a daily basis for over a year. What a bonus to stumble upon this book and find out that our actions have been helping to preserve the future of our planet! A number of residents in our street have complainined that the local environment has been suffering from some rather unpleasant air pollution of late, so we feel proud to be putting something back. |

| I was very disappointed with this book .... it didn't contain enough detailed information...its Ok for someone trying to do basic veg growing and energy saving but its title is misleading ...its not really about smallholding.......

| Any book on pests is not something which you want to spend very long reading, so I was delighted when i found this little book which gives me all the info I need about how to deal with pests (organically) that are having a good munch on the plants and vegetables in my garden. As well as telling you all about the bad insects, it also tells you about the good insects that will help act as a deterent. The price is also refreshingly good. They only cost £2.99! Frankly, if I'm not going to spend much time reading it, I certainly don't want to be paying lots for it! |

| It is always a brave move to put the words "encyclopedia" in to the title of a book. I just stopped while writing to test this out, I looked up "bindweed" in the index as this was the first thing that came into my head. It leads me to a few pages and tells me how much "field bindweed" can spread in a single year and how weeds work and the invasion technique it uses. Following another page I can see a picture of "field bindweed" and "hedge bindweed" their survival and spread and three ways to help control it.
