| This is one of the most enjoyable books i have read in recent years, written in a wonderful accessible style, it contains marvellous detail, and unusual facts about all aspects of France. This is really a first class book, and a great summer read. |

| How anyone can call this book dull is beyond me. I admire the way that Butcher persevered through what most travellers would consider pretty terrifying conditions. My stomach churned at times and I imagined how I would probably have bottled out of many of the 'towns' that he ventured through. The book itself is brilliantly written with a keen eye on the historical context and some thoughtful and brilliantly expressed passages. I would like to ask any of the critics of the book to place themselves in Butcher's position and see if they could have managed it. How easy it is easy to give one star to a book like this in the comfort of your own home. Personally, I loved it. |

| This is a lovely coffee table book, and I enjoyed a good couple of hours flicking through and dreaming of going to all the lovely places in it. However, when I finished I did think it hadn't offered much more than flicking through some travel brochures - something which made me question the price tag when you consider that these can be picked up for free in any travel agents.
All that said it has beautifully shot photos and has the USP of the month by month planner of the best places to go. It also tells you about some of the less well know things to do (although in some cases it misses some of the best out because of it). I would actually give this 3 and a half stars if I could. My summary is that it is beautiful but shallow. |

| I love this book; the romantic style of writing and stunning photography makes you want to travel immediately!
There is good coverage of the whole world, including a decent section on the UK, and includes a wide variety of experiences from hang-gliding in Rio de Janeiro to ghost-hunting in York, to camel riding in Oman, and it also includes festivals. It is beautifully presented with stunning photography and has experiences arranged by country in the index which makes navigating the book easier. It also includes an appendix with a few lines of useful information about each experience, for example a website. | Great revision of this essential camping guide. Now it features more
campsites across England (70 rather than the original 40), and some of the originals have been substituted, not sure why? The photos are still first class and the expanded 'handy information' gives a neat little overview of what to do and where to eat & drink we loved a secret little locals pub right on the beach in Dorset, recommended in the guide. The write-up and information for the campsites are accurate, and the authors seem to favour the kind of campsites I prefer - small ones with personality, rather than the large, static caravan type. All in all another great guide from the dependable Cool Camping dudes. |

| Very impressive book, not a deep book but anyone who writes a review on a book written by a comedian saying that its not deep enough is obviously not thinking about the books they buy. This book is an utter triumph and a great advert for positivity and grabbing life and living it! I'd give it 100 stars if I could! |

| There are very many things that I love about this book. So far I've had it a very short time and have already had an incredibly therapeutic swim, about 10 miles from where I have lived for over 20 years, which I had no idea was there. It was the most beautiful spot and the pub recommended in the book was such a find, being friendly, serving good beer and food, having a gorgeous wildflower garden and being over a thousand years old.
Having this book means I am much more likely to get out and swim in beautiful places, and not just paddle, worried about currents, debris and pond weed. So all those good intentions are finally coming good and I can entice friends along too. It's definitely going to be the basis of many UK holidays to come. I'm also impressed that ... Read More |

| Only that it's good, has clear mapping and lots of detailed information. It has a ring binding, which I like as this enables you to keep the book open at the desired page without damaging it. It also has a complete index of towns and villages at the back, and each of the city centre maps has its own street index - very useful. Not to mention the small scale route planning map and the map of administrative departments. What more could you need? And it's just about small enough to fit in your glove compartment. So if it seems a little heavy, unwieldy and difficult to navigate at times, well, France is a lot bigger than England. |
