| I watched this film expecting to watch a dark, moody and thoughtful thriller, but what I got was a cliched and unintentionally very funny comedy, but all the more entertaining for being that. The story is basically about about a mad serial killer, whos motives are never revealed, cutting a bloody and very unrealistic swave through small town desert America (killing anybody who even looks at him a bit funny) looking for a stupid hick who toke a case of money from a drug deal gone bad, and small town sheriff half trying to catch up with them both, but he hardly features for some reason. | I did originally try reading the book but found it quite difficult to get into. But the movie is something different. A period drama in a stately mansion. A young man falls for a beautiful young woman, but a cruel sequence of events transpires that will change their lives. The movie contrast the story of one man against the war and can be regarded as a snaapshot of the social classes in Britain during WWII. This is a strange movie to categorise because it is a very unique blend of genres. Its is both a period romance, and a war film. My husband dreaded the idea of watching a film about 'posh' people talking about nothing, but after I made him watch with me he love it. The film also has a beautiful musical score. | An excellent fantasy. Shooting stars exploding into glowing women, a camp captain steering a lightning trawler, a gaggle of ghosts providing humorous running commentary from the sideline, and at the centre of it all a very important stone that will make the holder king. This movie is an absolute treat and will not disappoint any fans of fantasies. |

| I like this sort of adventure film. There are far too few made, if you ask me. I guess most film makers think they will inevitably be compared to Indiana Jones, which is a shame.
So how does this compare to Indiana Jones? Not as good, a bit far-fetched, though I cant say why without giving bits of the plot away, but nonetheless a very entertaining romp. Its the kind of film that eats your time away. There aren't any real dull moments, and its a shame when it has to finish. I won't give it five stars, because it could be better, but it definately deserves 4. |

| This definitely improves on Bender's Big Score; the gags are more consistent, and Hermes plays a smaller part! There were several moments where I laughed like I did at the old episodes. But like the previous feature-length, it still isn't up to the 'pre-cancellation' standards. It does also drag on in the final 20 minutes as if the writers got bored.
Since like I said, this one is better, it's a comforting thought that this will likely be the case with the next two DVDs. Because it's still Futurama I will wait with baited breath. But ultimately, I think Matt Groening should just make Season 5! |

| I have recently discovered modern British comedy, and I am a HUGE fan of comedies like Shameless, Phoenix Nights, Max and Paddy's road to nowhere, Extras and The office. This comedy was recommended to me based on my opinion on Shameless, which I think is the best TV-show ever. However, "Gavin and Stacey" doesn't even get close to any of the shows mentioned. To me, it seems "stiff", very "acted" and WAAY to sweet. The character Nessa is a bit funny, and rescues it from being a complete disaster, but in general I find the rest of the cast quite boring or even repulsive. (Couldn't stand the smiley doll Stacey.)I was very disappointed. |

| The credits are still rolling but I had to get this review in!
After watching the painful BBC version this is brilliant by comparison. Please don't buy the BBC one, get this instead. I can't fault it! It is just like the image of narnia in my head. Very believeable, great characters, great battle scenes. I cringed all the way through the BBC version but this was a delight to watch. Can't wait for Prince Caspian now! |

| The Water Horse is based in Scotland, and more specifically, the area around Loch Ness. One day, lonely little boy Angus is searching for shells and things by the shore of the Loch, when he discovers what looks like a big egg-shaped rock. On closer investigation, he finds it is in fact an egg. Called away suddenly, he leaves the egg in his father's workshop, and races off. The next time he comes back, he discovers the egg has hatched. | As a devoted, repeated admirer of the superb originals, I found the new film nowhere nearly as good. What is more, the makers seemed to be too scared of political incorrectness to show the beautiful girls at their mini-dressed most sexy best, with too many scenes showing them too close up or too far away to be properly seen. Sorry, but I happen to admire the female form in all its exquisite loveliness and I wondered if the bored or timid film-makers were lovers of the other sex!
As with so many DVDs, the attractive covers rarely match the timidly over-shy contents. |

| This is the best made documentary I've ever seen. It's not just about the extremely beautiful country, but the lovely people and the way they get along with nature. The music is wonderful. I really, really enjoy watching it. Definitely an item for collection. In fact, I'm going to buy some as a gift for my Chinese friends. They would have the chance to watch it but do not necessarily without TV commercials, which would ruin it. |
