| First things first i am a huge Scorsese fan, however this film left me feeling very cold and unfulfilled. The cast is superb and the storyline could have been interesting, however what i found most surprising is that i simply did not care. The characters are disfunctional but this does not endear you to them, in fact it irritated me. I have watched this 3 times and whilst many Mean Streets purists will no doubt say i have to watch this many times to appreciate it, i honestly cannot ever see another occassion when i will by choice ever watch this!! There are very few films i have really not enjoyed but this is certainly one of them.
The Departed, Goodfellas, Aviator etc etc are all more watchable than this! |

| i have seen many films most are acceptable a few which are boring and some i couldn't stand. but this has started a new league of it's own i found that the films were mind griping exciting and almost had me glued to my chair. if any one is unsure wheater or not to buy these films my advice to you would be rent them first and see if you enjoy it i done that my self and adored these movies. i highly recommend this and i'm sure you will enjoy it to. |

| Cheesy, corny and totally daft but really enjoyable all the same! The first movie is the best of the two but both are easy to watch, fun and the music is pretty good too. |

| The storyline is simple, there are almost no sub-plots, the dialogue is very sparse, and there is limited characterisation in the lead roles.
And yet this movie works wonderfully well. It not only evokes memories of Brief Encounter, it is also vividly reminiscent of Claude Lelouch's Un Homme et Une Femme, partly because of the train scenes, partly because of Ms Streep's divided loyalties, and partly because of the tremendous score. The coincidences may seem a little contrived at first, but extraordinary coincidences do sometimes happen in real life, and part of the movie's appeal lies in its portrayal of the impact of love - both for good and for ill. | This is an awful, awful film. The plot is pathetic and makes no sense. In fact it annoyed me whilst watching it because it was so bad. Even my 7 year old got bored and started asking questions about why he was doing this and that. (Arthur that is).
The only good thing about this film is The child actor who plays Arthur who is brilliant and stars in the Spiderwick Chronicles, which is a fantastic film and shouldn't be mentioned in the same breathe as this drivel. I was tempted to ask for my money back at the end. Don't buy this film don't even watch it when it comes on TV. I'd rather watch ten back to back episodes of The One Show than watch this again, and that's saying something. You've been warned. |

| ...this happens. Sort of.
There isn't much of a plot, but when you see Satan's youngest kid doing some Guitar Hero stuff in his bedroom, you know it has to be plain funny. The repeat gag of Nicky getting killed by accident - generally his own mistakes - works very nicely, and even better when he accidentally lands in Heaven and discovers his air-head mum and her best mates, who are angels. Beefy could have been done a little better, and just looks like a cheap copy of Frank the Pug from Men in Black. Devilishly funny though, and loved the Ozzy cameo! |

| This is an entertaining enough effort, but cashes in too strongly on The Silence of the Lambs. Hopkins is good as usual, and Edward Norton is particularly good, but the rest feels a little contrived. Not enough of this gels, and it doesn't have the same unsettling vibe as "Manhunter."
Still worth seeing for some good bits, though. |
