Thought I'd have a quick peep when it dropped on my doormat, ended up watching all six episodes in the same day! Can't wait to watch the second series.

A great series that thankfully doesn't fall into the obvious sit com scenarios that you think it's going to.

Infact, this is better than Peep show. It's a funny look at real life, and at no point do you think "that would never happen". Every epsiode practically has me peeing myself with laughter.
Although its called Gavin and Stacey, I actually think the show is all about Smithy, Nessa and Bryn, as well as Gavin's parents, as they are the best characters. I've lent series one to loads of people, and they've all loved it. I can't reccommend it enough.
Comedy genius.

This is the third time that Tess has been done and all three have been quite superb. The other two were done in the usual cinema feature length form but this one has the advantage, not only of HD, but of an extra 2 hours on the running time and so there is room for far more of the novel. Time and again dialogues were expanded on what one remembered and many extra scenes were inserted so that I felt continuously as though the entire space of the novel was being filled out with substantial and significant information that normally you would only get by reading. And by the way I have read Tess but it was back in the late 60's - I did not enjoy it (I really don't think Hardy would have expected me to) and I had no intention of re-reading it but I ... The second series of Saxondale is even better than the first. Episode 1 is realy a summation of the 1st series character of Tommy Saxondale from there on his vista expands and takes in more characters in a broader scope of situations and the comedy is all the better for it.

It looks like the BBC will not take a 3rd series and so MacClennan and Coogan's scripts have everything thrown into them.

Commision editors at the BBC seem to have lost their marbles; while some idiot in the drama department writes a cheque for the diabolical Bonekickers another puts the book away in the comedy department.

Saxondale, it seems will go the way of Hyperdrive - loveable and funny characters consigned to the dustbin marked ... Read More

To some people, Alan Partridge may be just too odious to watch. Tommy Saxondale is a nicer guy, just a bit of a plonker at times. So, this may be a comedy for some to appreciate the talent of Steve Coogan.

I think Tommy Saxondale is his best character since Partridge. Maybe there is some of Partridge in him, or is that Steve Coogan !

I am a big fan of Alan Partridge so was pleased when this new character came along. I thought the first series very good, and the second, even better. Just wish it would come out on DVD.

I decided to put up a review of this film after purchasing it from Amazon, at just under 7.00GBP.
To be honest, their cannot be many people who have not seen the movie before, although, perhaps like me, it has been quite a while. DVD special features (or lack of them) don't really concern me, and this review concentrates on the film.
Basically, Eastwood is hung in error by a posse in search of a murdering cattle rustler. Eastwood is found by a passing Marshal, while still alive. After being cleared, he takes a position as a Marshal himself. While "vengeance" is to some degree in the film, Cooper (Eastwood's character) does not actively go in search if this for most of the film.
Anyway, to the main question: satisfaction and ... Read More

i hadn't seen Fat Friends when it came out on tv, but do remember friends raving about it, i finally watched a DVD and wow, i was totally hooked after the first episode, it really got to the nitty gritty, as we slowly got to know all the personalities, with one thing in common, a weight problem, i don't know what i was expecting, but this wasn't it, it was far better than i could have imagined, and now have the complete box set of all three series, it had me both laughing and almost crying in parts, but the better part was how they all supported each other come what may, a beautiful storyline. well worth every penny.

Billy Wilder had the wonderful idea of transferring "Irma La Douce" the musical, to the screen. The only problem was, that when he started to make it, he thought(rather oddly)that the songs slowed down the action!
So what did he do?Tighten up the script, drop an odd song or two?NO,he just ditched ALL the sung lyrics, and used the remaining music as background.
So if you think this is the musical, you are going to be sadly disappointed.
As the reviewer above had said it's a great comedy, but NOT the musical that many people were(and are looking) for.

Yes, this is a brilliant film. Get it; watch it. Laugh, cringe & feel for the Khan kids.

By the way, Salford is NOT in or part of Manchester; Salford is a city in its own right.
