| A really excellent Kinks collection. The whole CD drips with classy recordings from a hugely influential band. The price is a steal, the quality is uncompromising. A treasure trove of innovative British music, full of songs that surely require little or no introduction.
The Kinks made some superb music & a good cross section can be found here - you really would be barking mad not to get this, it's just ideal ! |

| This album is really on the pulse and that is the greatest compliment you can pay a band who haven't released any new material in over 10 years. 'We Carry On' is the surging adrenaline and panicking heartbeat at the centre of this very scary ride. It's the sound of our collective urban nightmare! 'The Rip' is an instant classic - just beautiful and yes, a bit sad. 'Machine Gun' and 'Plastic' wear obvious Aphex Twin and Burial influences but are still uniquely different to anything else out there. Comeback of the year. |

| As I listen to this I'm driving to the Brecon Jazz festival. Here the jazz can range from heavy to funky but one pub there plays rock and blues all weekend in the face of all that jazz. This album make me feel like I'm there already - foot tapping, hip sswinging, real funky rocking blues. Brilliant! |

| The popularity of this band, i'll start by saying, that i dont think they arent a good band, because they are ok. But no way are they great. Poor singing all round, extremely bad lyrics... Nothing special musically.
Perhaps the most overrated band ever, Oasis seem to continue releasing the same old stuff. Lyrics have progressed worse and worse, the music stays dull and dreary. And Noels poor singing (and liams even worse singing) make these a pretty boring band in my opinion. I heard one of there new songs the other day (the one with the drawn video, cant remember what its called) And although it wasnt band, it seemed to be all to similar. | This DVD version of the famous Red Rocks concert has been a long time coming and it does not disappoint. It is great to have the whole concert restored and the missing tracks are so good one wonders why they were ever omitted fom the original VHS version. The most impressive aspect of this release is the improved sound. The bass in particular is awesome, and I can hear phases from Adam Clayton that I have never been able to hear before. Edge's guitar is equally impressive and the whole sound picture is perfetly balanced.

| Just when most of us had given up on the band ever delivering another truly great album Radiohead deliver 'In Rainbows'. It is a fantastic album. Ok, I'll admit it falls slightly short of The Bends and Ok Computer (if we must compare) but possibly only due to the trifling matter of including a couple less tracks than those two colossi!
It is great to see the band finally nail a few ideas they've been experimenting with on the last three albums - 'Jigsaw' and 'Weird Fish' completely destroy 'I Might be Wrong', 'In Limbo', 'Where I End', etc. The intro to '15 Step' conjures up nightmares of electro skit hell but the song develops well and turns into a really addictive opener.
