VHS : Pride and Prejudice (1995)
Im only 17years old and i am obsessed with Jane Austen! Ive watched both versions of Pride and Prejudice as it's my favourite of the Austen collection. I think Keira was better for the character Elizabeth Bennet for certain, but i think Colin firth was amazing at playing darcey as i find him so sexy, but Matthew Macfadyen created more chemistry between them both! I think in the newer version you can see the tension between them both all the time and your just shouting at the tv coz you get frustrated at them both. I think the newer version is sooo much better without a doubt, but the older one if still very good. Id personally prefer the newer one!!!!!

VHS : Teletubbies - Here Come The Teletubbies
We have a number of Teletubbies videos, and of course watch the occasional new episode on TV, but this is the best I have seen so far and undoubtedly is our young daughter's favourite. There is a delightful video of some young children in the rain and then a cloud comes and makes a big puddle in which all the Teletubbies get wet. This is followed by a computer animation of a parade of animals which always transfixes and delights our daughter. In fact this tape is just one delight after another - fantastic entertainment for tots from beginning to end.

VHS : Pride And Prejudice [1940]
I hadn't seen this film since I was a child, and didn't have the highest expectations having heard throughly mixed comments surrounding it. I can honestly say that it was an absolutely lovely surprise. No, it isn't completely faithful to the novel, but neither is any other adaptation (not even the much loved 1995 version- I don't remember any scene in the novel where Darcy takes a bath or a dip in the lake), and it's true that the costumes are far more Civil War than English Regency, but this is one of the rare examples in which it doesn't really matter because it's just so charmingly done.

Greer Garson is simply magnificent as Elizabeth Bennet- poised, intelligent, gracious and witty and is excellently matched by Laurence Olivier's ... Read More

VHS : Dirty Dancing (1987)
Dirty Dancing is a movie that is hyped up to the limit. It is recognised as one of the best chick-flicks and has somehow entered the books as a classic that you simply have to see. With all this in mind I only got around to watching this movie a year ago and have since watched this three times, each time hoping to discover what it is that seems to make this movie special and unique but I am sorry to say that I fail to see what's so great about this movie.

The story is simple. Baby (Jennifer Grey) is on holidays with her parents. She meets local dance teacher Johnny (Patrick Swayze), she learns the passions of dance while also learning a few things about love and life at the same time.

Undoubtedly the best thing about this ... Read More

I loved this when I was a kid.
Now I'm old (haha) and have kids of my own.

We sat down together this weekend to watch this film.... I knew it would be good and that the kids would love it, but I had forgotten just how good it really is.

Every scene in the film is intense - exciting, sad, funny, scarey...
There is no let up from begining to end.

One minute you want to cry because all seems lost and the scene is overwhelmingly sad.
The next, your flying on the back of a dragon-dog all excited and enchanted.

Having watched hundreds of films in my lifetime so far - I have to say that this is the best film I have ever seen.

An absolute triumph.

VHS : Teletubbies: Bedtime [2000]
If your child loves the Teletubbies I can't recommend this one higher, its the best by far.

Most of the teletubbies scenes are about bedtime, sleep and waking up and is of great interest to the little ones.

What really rules about this video is the cut scenes (the scenes where the Teletubbies display video on their bellies). The first two cut scenes are simply fantastic and a lot of trouble has gone into the soundtrack.

The first cut scene is wake up sleepy head, where about a dozen small children wake up a man sleeping on a chair. The music and singing is extremely well done. My little one is absolutely in awe of it and we use it to calm him, if he gets a little hyper.

The next cut scene features a real Jazz band ... Read More

VHS : Doctor Who - Death To The Daleks [1974] [1963]
This is an underrated classic that should be released on DVD soon. The Tardis is drained of power and forced to land on a barren planet. There the Doctor and Sarah-Jane encounter a power struggle between a group of humans and a faction of Daleks! Here we have an atmospheric tale with some wonderfully creepy moments. The opening scenes in the darkness are excellent, and the Exillons are very effective. It is interesting to see how the Daleks work with the handicap of their weaponary being ineffective. Here the are portrayed as an evil, scheming race. There is some good modelwork too, most notably the Exillon temple.
A very good piece of drama. It stands out as the best story from Jon Pertwee's final season as the Doctor.

VHS : Do I Not Like That - The Final Chapter
The most hilariously funny documentary you will ever see!
At first you will think it is a comedy voice over spoof as this cross between Alan Partridge and David Brent bumbles his way to inevitable failure shadowed by the yes men of Phil Neal and Laurie Mcmenemy, echoing his every word parrot fashion for extra comic effect. Add the chuckle brothers (Paul "Gazza" Gascoigne and Carlton "what you doing playing for England" Palmer) and what you have here is pure comedy gold. You will cry with laughter, gasping for breath unable to believe this is real!. The video will be the prize of your collection and you will make all your friends watch it and they will thank you for this is comedy gold. Ricky Gervais could not write a better script, again THIS IS NOT A SPOOF.

VHS : Doctor Who - The Movie [1996]
Doctor Who - The Movie [1996] [1963] This is perhaps one of the most underated DVD's in the whole Doctor Who series both new and classic. The main problem is the bad guy or more specifically the actor who portrays him, Eric Roberts is a great bad guy in lots of B'Movies but just wasn't right for this film (his choice was forced on the writers/director due to pressure from the american backers). On the whole though the film is a great little jaunt, the interior of the TARDIS is fantastic and McGann plays the role fantastically. idea for the future (McCoy, McGann, Eccleston and Tennant) The Four Doctors
