| After reading all the reviews, I thought 'why not?'. I was looking to upgrade my 16 month old 17" Yuraku TFT monitor. I received the Hannspree monitor on Tuesday (£95 super saver delivery). I set it all up and had high expectations.
I was sorely disappointed. A previous reviewer said that the picture quality is grainy, with pixelation. They are right (even more so on mine). Even when I play a dvd, the picture quality is grainy, there is uneven picture colour and contrast (some areas are too bright whilst others are too dark). I went on the net and the background is a shade of pale pink!. I tried to alter settings, but nothing improved. Also, if you have vista, the installation cd will not install the program, since ... | This is the 2nd one I have bought both from Amazon I think and am very pleased with both. Have got one of each colour and they both look really superb. Very easy set up it does it all for you one is using Vista the other XP and had no problems with them at all. A set up disk was supplied but not needed. All in all a good value for money item. Well recomended. |

| This is an excellent monitor for the money you pay, it cost £10 less than my 2 1/2 year old 17" monitor!
Straigh out of the box this monitor impresses you. There is a "quick-start" guide taped to the screen under the protective packaging. Plug into your mains, plug into your graphics card or VGA slot and you are away! switch on and install the drivers and user guide on the CD- EASY! you can even update the drivers via the internet straight away. As soon as you switch on the monito it will adjust itself to the optimum visual settings for your computer and graphics card. brilliant! | Cant fault this monitor, infact I came on to look for a second one to run side by side with dual view.
Sharp images, great colour matching for photoshop and printing. Gaming is great. Play alot of games and the response times mean no noticeable delay or ghosting. I looked hard for a good monitor when i bought this a few months ago, and the reviews I found pointed at this. Sorry I cant remember the link now but it came highly recommended and rightly so. Conclusion after many days looking around was that this was the best monitor in the price range, and possibly even for another £30-£50 more also. Looks great, great functionality and a good price. But my goodness me this screen just blew me away. The picture quality was superb and is really unrivaled by the more expensive screens. The contrast ratio is superb and infact it is really much better than my t.v. downstairs. The screen itself looks stunning. Despite the display image for this screen on amazaon, this screen for me was all black unlike the black/ sliver display picture. There isn't much to say other than that. Although the vga cable was a bit of a pain to put into the back of the moniotr. Unfortunately the biggest downfall for this screen is the fact that the intergrated speakers are terrible. | Replacing an old Dell flatscreen, I read up on a lot of monitors. The 226BW got good reviews in a number of places, including here.
I was very disappointed with the image when I first set it up, but assumed I could adjust it extensively. The built-in controls are somewhat limited if you're using a digital connection, but again, I assumed once I had the main OSD suite - MagicTune - installed it'd be hunky dory. But oh no. I've got a new machine running 64 bit Vista Home Premium. The disc that accompanies the 226BW points you in the dreiction of the Samsung website to download MagicTune for Vista. I installed it from the Samsung site, but on restart got a message saying "This computer does not support MagicTune", pointing me straight ... Read More |

| Thinking of buying this monitor based on the good reviews I have read on Amazon. One niggle is people's apparent ignorance of how screen sizes work.
They are always quoted 'on the diagonal', so if you do the Pythagoras (good old maths again!) on a 16" X 10" screen size, you come up with 18.6....so nearly 19". You can't just go on the width and height, as certain reviewers seem to have done, and then crticised the display for being too small. It is what HP say - 19". They couldn't say it was if it wasn't. Otherwise we'd be into Trade Descriptions act and all that stuff. Have now bought this item from Amazon- best deal when yo take into account free shipping. Others seem a bit less but then add about £8/9.00 carriage so a good deal. ... Read More |

| I use this as a computer monitor, and for that it would get five stars.
However, during the recent warm weather I was surprised to see that three thunderflies were able to crawl in behind the screen! One crawled out again but two died, creating small but irremovable black marks on the display that were every bit as distracting as dead pixels. Samsung just didn't care - the response of their customer service department was 'Tough - go and find someone who can fix it and pick up the bill yourself'. So zero starts for their customer support and therefore only three overall. Luckily, I bought the display from Amazon who replaced it without question for a brand new uncontaminated one! |

| Got the monitor because I was replacing a laptop. As I am not a gamer, graphic artist, nor database freak I was looking for something cheap which looked good. Monitor arrived in good time. However, they had managed to pack two vga leads and software rather than a vga and a power lead. Ironically, I did not need the vga lead as I had bought a dvi lead. Because I work in IT I had a spare power lead but you may not. Dvi lead does allow you to rotate the screen but, as you cannot rotate the monitor it impossible to control the mouse until you tilt your head to 90 degrees! Didn't know it had speakers, tried them, but went back to dedicated speakers immediately.
It comes with a perspex sheet taped over the monitor for protection. The bonus is it makes a great crazy mirror ... Read More |
